A premier casino and entertainment venue, Sycuan Casino regularly hosts live shows, drawing large audiences. As they began hosting more events, they needed better control over payments, user access, and ways to prevent ticket fraud, while keeping everything simple for their team to manage.
THE CHALLENGES
The casino faced several challenges that required custom solutions:
- Payment System Compatibility: Their preferred payment provider wasn’t available through their current ticketing system, causing delays and confusion during transactions.
- Selling Merch and Extras Was Tricky: They wanted to sell things like parking passes, food vouchers, and merchandise along with tickets. But there was no way to limit how many could be sold or to check them at the entrance.
- Admin Access Had Limits: The team needed their admin users to have full access to manage events and users, except the ability to remove the account owner.
- Reporting Was Time-Consuming: Monthly ticket count reports required a lot of manual work, and they didn’t want merch and extras included in the totals.
- Promoters Wanted Better Ad Tracking: There was no easy way for event promoters to add their Facebook tracking codes for ad performance.
- Ticket Scalpers Were Abusing the System: Some buyers were using fake or temporary email addresses to resell tickets. The team needed a way to block known domains often used by resellers.
SOLUTION: Yapsody’s Tailored Approach
Yapsody worked closely with the casino team to build clear, easy-to-use solutions:
- Integrated Their Payment Gateway: We connected their preferred payment system directly into the platform so transactions could go through without extra steps. Specifically, we implemented the Converge Payment Gateway integration to make this possible.
- Controls for Merch and Extras: We added settings to limit how many extras, like merch and parking passes, could be sold, and made it possible to scan them at the door using the YapScan app. This was done through a new add-on limit condition and scanning functionality.
- Updated Admin Access Rules: Admin users can now manage events and settings fully, with the one restriction that they can’t remove the account owner. This was achieved by modifying permission settings to give admins full CRUD rights except delete rights over the owner account.
- Created Simple Monthly Reports: A new automated report pulls ticket counts from the right data source and skips extras like merch, saving time and giving cleaner results. This report was built based on the Consolidated Inventory Sales Report instead of the Surcharge Breakdown report.
- Added Ad Tracking Tools: Promoters can now add their Meta or Facebook Pixel tracking codes directly in the event setup. We made this possible by adding Pixel ID management within the Event Wizard.
- Blocked Risky Email Domains: The casino team can now block entire email domains like @mail.com and @protonmail.com to stop scalpers from using fake accounts. This enhancement was part of Phase 2 of our blocklist feature, which now includes domain-based blocking.
